Is Norman Reedus Set To Play Ghost Rider?

As the MCU continues to grow, fans speculate on what possibilities lie ahead. Shows like WandaVision, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye have introduced new characters to Phase 4 and there’s more on the way. Morbius will debut to audiences in January with numerous new additions set to follow.

With an expanding list of names rumored, things certainly do look exciting. One of the names constantly hyped about is Ghost Rider – a character with multiple iterations. Nicholas Cage previously played the Johnny Blaze version of the character in a set of films from 2007-2011. Gabriel Luna later played the Robbie Reyes version in Agents of SHIELD.

While both certainly left their impression on the role, any addition to the MCU would likely come with a recast.

One name consistently linked to the role is Norman Reedus, star of The Walking Dead. Reedus has the rough and ready, cool demeanor that is needed to play the role and is a popular fancast choice. The actor has been very public with his thoughts and has never shied away from expressing his desire to play Ghost Rider.

“The Ghost Rider conversation has been coming up for years, and yeah, tell them to put me in it. I want to play Ghost Rider. I want a fire skull. I want my face to turn into a fire skull and whip a chain around. That would be great.”

The continued speculation has drawn attention from more than just the fans, with The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang adding her support.

According to a recent scoop from tipster Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse, Marvel Studios has already chosen the actor who will portray the beloved anti-hero.

While no official announcement has been made, The Walking Dead stars Twitter activity seems to suggest he might know something about it, liking numerous tweets suggesting he should play the role. Some websites have even stated that Reedus has already been cast as Ghost Rider, though which incarnation of the character remains in doubt. While we are not going to say it’s a sure thing, it would certainly be a great casting choice for Marvel.

Reedus is a hardened motorcycle enthusiast and has his own Ride with Norman Reedus show airing on AMC. He will also return for the final season of The Walking Dead which hit screens in February.
