This week we’re shining our spotlight on Maryland cosplayer Stormy, AKA Fukakucos (he/they)!
How long have you been a cosplayer?
I’ve (technically) been cosplaying since 2015, so it’s been about 6 or 7 years.
What got you into cosplay?
My best friend was the first person to cosplay with me, and we both loved it!
Do you make, buy, or is it a combination?
Usually I will buy my cosplays and modify them.
Favorite thing about being a cosplayer?
My favorite thing about cosplaying is the opportunity it gives you to express yourself, and the friends I’ve made through the community.
Least favorite thing?
It bothers me when people make cosplaying into a contest. It’s no secret that cosplaying has become sort of industrialized, and because of this it seems like people have started to care less about cosplayers that don’t look 100% like the character.
What do you do for work outside of cosplay?
I am in the process of becoming a substitute teacher!
What are your top 3 fandoms?
Currently, my top (3) fandoms are Ghost, Hazbin Hotel and Smiling Friends!
What cosplay are you planning next?
The list of cosplays that I want to do is always growing, but as of right now it looks like my next one will be Cardinal!Terzo (from Ghost).
What’s one piece of advice for new cosplayers?
My advice for cosplayers just starting out is to not worry too much about the accuracy of your character, and don’t be afraid to add your own personal touches to your cosplays! And even if you don’t think anyone will notice or that nobody will appreciate your work, what’s most important is that you are satisfied with it.
Where can people find you on social media?
I’m mostly on Instagram, my account is @fukakucos.
