This past weekend was huge for Disney as Lilo & Stitch proved how big its fan base is. Mission: Impossible did well, but not for how much it cost to make, and Final Destination continues to defy expectations. Here are your Memorial Day weekend box office results.
1. Lilo & Stitch dominated the box office, becoming the biggest opening weekend of 2025 so far. The movie made a whopping 183 million dollars. Many critics and fans liked the movie, with the majority feeling it is a decent remake. With no other children’s films around, it wouldn’t be too surprising if this movie made a billion dollars.
2. Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning made 77 million dollars. This is the biggest opening weekend for a Mission: Impossible movie. This would be good news if the budget weren’t so high. This movie was made for somewhere between 300 and 400 million, and even though people are saying this is a must-see theatrical experience, it doesn’t seem like it will make much of a profit.
3. Final Destination Bloodlines took in another 24.5 million dollars. This is amazing news, and Warner Bros. is having the best year so far for movies. The movie has now made more than any of its prequels have made in the past.
4. Thunderbolts* took in 11.6 million dollars. The movie, while excellent, hasn’t met expectations at the box office. We can only guess how Fantastic Four will perform.
5. Sinners made another 11.2 million dollars. What can I say that hasn’t been said already? The movie continues to be one of the most successful and well-reviewed movies of the year.
