Every year, Fathom Events brings a selection of films from one of the most beloved anime studios of all time back to the big screen via their Studio Ghibli Fest. The 2026 edition features seven titles distributed throughout the months of June and October.

The series kicked off this past weekend with Ponyo, which will continue playing through tomorrow (June 17th). Coincidentally, just a few weeks ago the English voice actors of the two main characters, Noah Cyrus (Ponyo) and Frankie Jonas (Sosuke), shared on Instagram that they got matching Ponyo tattoos to commemorate these voice acting roles from their childhood. The film returned to theaters just in time for fans who felt nostalgic after seeing that post.
Several of the other movies in the lineup are celebrating important release anniversaries: 20 years for Tales from Earthsea, 25 years for Spirited Away, 35 years for Only Yesterday, and 40 years for Castle in the Sky. The remaining two movies on the schedule are My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke.

Most movie theater chains in the United States are participating in Studio Ghibli Fest, including AMC, Regal, and Cinemark. Regal is offering the following special deal for members of their free loyalty program: “Regal Crown Club members, see two titles and get $5 off the third for this year’s Studio Ghibli Fest!” All theaters will be following the same schedule and have alternating showings in both Japanese with subtitles and English dubbed. The schedule can be viewed here.
