Yuyu Hakusho Netflix Adaptation Reveals Three Actors

The live-action adaptation of the manga Yuyu Hakusho has revealed three casting announcements.

The series is based on the legendary Japanese manga of the same name, which was initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1990, telling the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who is killed after saving a child’s life. While in the afterlife, he is named Spirit Detective and must investigate demons and the like with his friends. As the story progresses, it slowly moves away from a detective story to a more fighting-orientated story.

Fans show excitement and hope as new actors are named daily; when it comes to anime adaptions, the choices often are not received well, so to see a solid cast that looks like the characters is refreshing for many.

Kanata Hongo, known for Kingdom and Attack on Titan, has been officially cast as Hiei. Hiei is one of the anime’s main characters and an early nemesis of the show’s protagonist, Yusuke Urameshi.

Yusuke Urameshi will be played by Takumi Kitamura, known as Zutto Waratteta, and Let me eat your Pancreas. Yusuke is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series.

Kurama will be played by Jun Shison, best known for Way of the House Husband, and You’re my Pet. Kurama is known for his ability to transform into a fox demon form, and his signature Rose Whip attack. This character is one of the most popular and beloved among fans.

We are still waiting on the choice of actor for fan-favorite character Kazuma Kuwabara.
