Henry Cavill Back as Superman / First Look at New Time Lord – FNR

Hello, Fandom Fans! Welcome to your weekly source for fandom-related news. As we find ourselves on the verge of Peppermint Mochas and Hallmark Christmas movies there is still a little bit of spooky season left over.  This week’s Fandom News Roundup will be a mixture of the two seasons, as we ignore Thanksgiving…just like my uncle when we invite him over. Anyways, before we can show you what is new let’s look at the news we already covered.  It is time for the rapid-fire.

In September, Riordan revealed the cover art for The Sun and the Star, which he had announced a little over a year ago and will be co-writing with Mark Oshiro. This book will focus on one of the fandom’s favorite couples: Will and Nico. According to Goodreads, the expected publication date is May 2, 2023.

American actor, writer, and singer  Leslie Jordan, most known for his role on Will & Grace passed away on October 24, 2022.  Jordan was 67 at the time.

Marvel has released the first official trailer for its upcoming release, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

During Konami’s recent Livestream, a bunch of new Silent Hill games was announced. Along with the games, director Christophe Gans confirmed he had signed on to direct a brand new movie called “Return to Silent Hill“.

It’s Christmastime in the Galaxy

Will Christmas and Marvel equal success once again? Disney and Marvel  Entertainment released the official trailer for Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. This holiday special features the Guardians of the Galaxy as they experience their first Earth Christmas. As you can imagine…things don’t go swimmingly. Mantis, Drax, Nebula, and the rest of the gang get way into the spirit! Still, we have to wonder, “Is Mephisto in this?” Find out when the Holiday Special begins streaming on November 25, 2022, on Disney Plus.

Superman Returns

While Disney and Marvel were dropping trailers for Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, DC dropped their “draw 4″ by releasing the photo above. The caption included read, “I am back as #Superman.” Those who saw Black Adam may not have been surprised. SPOILER ALERT: Henry Cavill’s Superman and a few others make a cameo in the film. Now we know that Cavill is back for more than a cameo.

Toss a Coin at Your New Witcher

It would seem that Henry Cavill’s return as the Man of Steel may be why he has to leave his role as The Witcher. This week it was announced that Cavill’s role was recast.  Henry shared the following statement,

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,[…] In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”

Liam Hemsworth will take over the mantle of Geralt for season four of The Witcher.  Hemsworth describes himself as a “fan of the Witcher,” but will that be enough to sway fans of the series? Season 3 of the Netflix series is scheduled to premiere in the Summer of 2023.

Blink and You’ll Miss it!

Doctor Who is returning and its new home is on Disney Plus. The BBC staple will begin streaming on the House of Mouse platform starting in 2023. To celebrate the return of the Time Lord, a trailer was released for the upcoming Doctor Who special. The trailer showcases Doctors from the past and our next Doctor — Ncuti Gatwa.  Though his appearance is minimal it is our first time seeing him in action.

Rihanna Lifts Us Up

Rihanna’s return to music comes via the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. The single, “Lift Me Up,” is an emotional song that will bring tears to the strongest of heroes. The music video is trending at number 6 on YouTube. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11, 2022.

20/20 Visions

Disney Plus’ WandaVision left fans wondering, “What happened to White Vision?” Soon we will have answers. According to Deadline, Vision Quest is the working title for the spin-off series. Paul Bettany will return as the Avenger. With Wanda aka The Scarlet Witch possibly dying in Multiverse of Madness, it is not known if Elisabeth Olsen will be reprising her role. We will update you as more information comes in.

That completes our FNR for this week. What news story is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below. Remember to stay hydrated and stay safe. We’ll see you next week for even more news.
