Wicked Defies Gravity – Box Office November 22-24 2024

As expected, people rushed to the movies this weekend. A Broadway musical crushed at the box office. A sequel to a Best Picture Winner still has many fans and The Rock just isn’t as popular as he once was. Here are this past weekend’s box office results.

1. Wicked was a box office smash this weekend. The movie took in 114 million dollars domestically making it the most profitable weekend for a musical turned movie. The movie has been a huge hit with critics and audiences alike and with great word of mouth the movie should continue to make money for weeks to come.

2. Gladiator 2 took in 55 million dollars. The movie has been crushing it overseas with a global gross of already over 200 million dollars. Critics and audiences are also loving this long-awaited sequel.

3. Red One took in 13.2 million dollars, placing it in third place this week. It’s not looking good for The Rock and Chris Evans as Red One is a clear bomb. It will be lucky to stay in the top 5 next week.

4. Bonhoeffer took in 5.1 million dollars. This is the true story of a pastor who took a stand against Nazis during wartime. The movie was released by Angel Studios, These faith-based movies tend to do pretty well when they come out.

5. Venom: The Last Dance rounds your top 5 bringing in 4 million dollars. The movie has done better overseas but it feels like it was the last dance for sure.

Come back next week to see how the box office turns out. With the new release of Moana 2, people should be rushing to the movies once again.
