Weapons Won’t Quit – Box Office Results 8/29-9/1, 2025

Weapons is definitely the movie that just won’t die. This weekend saw the release of a couple of new films, but they were still outpaced by another movie that is over 50 years old. Here are your weekend box office results.

1. Weapons took first place again this past weekend, making another 12.4 million dollars. Word of mouth must be really helping this movie, as most agree it is one of the best horror films of 2025. A great trailer and a good mystery also don’t hurt. The movie has made around 235 million dollars with just a 38 million dollar budget. Another huge win for the horror genre.

2. Jaws took in 9.8 million dollars. The movie was rereleased in theatres for its 50th anniversary and did really well. Jaws is one of the most beloved movies of all time, so it doesn’t surprise me that many fans flocked to see this one.

3. Caught Stealing made 9.5 million dollars in its first weekend. The Austin Butler-led film has gotten good reviews from critics, but time will tell if it will make its money back.

4. Freakier Friday took in 8.3 million dollars. The movie has made well over 100 million dollars currently, and it seems it was a good idea to put this one in theatres instead of streaming.

5. The Roses made 8 million dollars in its first weekend. The remake of 1989’s The War of the Roses had a fine opening, as the budget isn’t reported to be really high. The movie has received mixed reviews, though, so I’m not sure that it will have legs going forward.

Join us next week to see how the box office turns out.
