Waiting for a new Dark Phoenix Film? Now you have to wait longer.

Fans have been waiting for an X-Men movie to do justice to the Dark Phoenix saga since the universally panned X3: The Last Stand. Apparently they’ll have to wait a little longer.

20th Century Fox announced that the X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie has been pushed back from November 2nd, 2018 to February 14th, 2019. In addition, the New Mutants movie, which was slated to be released on April 13th of this year but had been pushed back to February 22nd, 2019… is now scheduled to be released on August 2, 2019.

This movie, set 10 years after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, actually finds the team hailed as national heroes instead of menacing freaks. They go on a routine mission into space (not sure how that works) and fight intergalactic forces over Jean Grey. This film is written and directed by Simon Kinberg. Starring: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Lamar Johnson and Sophie Turner.

While it is disappointing to have to wait longer for a film, hopefully the finished product will be worth the wait.

A much anticipated film that mixes the superhero genre with horror, the New Mutants stars Anna Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga and Alice Braga. It’s written by Josh Boone and Knate Lee and directed by the former.

The story centers around five mutants who are being held in a secret facility while they discover their powers and try to save themselves. When it was initially pushed back, it was reported that reshoots were in the works to make the story even scarier.

Taylor-Joy revealed previously that a new character is to be added during reshoots.

So while we have to wait a bit longer for these movies, it is to be hoped the extra time will be put to good use and we’ll get the movies we really want. Because I don’t think we could stand another Last Stand.
