The summer movie season feels like it has already begun. The new Ryan Coogler film Sinners did something no other horror movie has been able to do. Minecraft keeps making money, and Jesus himself is bringing in the bread. Here are your box office results.
1. Sinners took first place this weekend, making 48 million dollars domestically. It has already made almost its entire budget back. The movie has received rave reviews from just about everyone and is the only horror movie in history to receive an A Cinema score. The film is expected to have legs and will most likely keep making money.
2. A Minecraft Movie took in another 40 million dollars in its third weekend. The movie has now made over 700 million dollars worldwide. It wouldn’t surprise me if, in the next week or two, it makes over a billion.
3. The King of Kings took in 17.5 million dollars. The movie has done very well and was a smart release during the Easter season.
4. The Amateur took in another 7 million dollars. The Rami Malek-led film has done pretty well for itself so far.
5. Warfare took in another 4.8 million dollars. Word of mouth has definitely helped this movie, with many saying it is unlike any war film they have seen.
