Amazon has released a brand new trailer for its upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel series, The Rings of Power – which you can check out below.
Set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the series will bring the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history to screens for the very first time.
A synopsis for the series reads:
Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breath-taking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power features an ensemble cast that includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
The series was developed by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay.
Although the series is an Amazon Prime exclusive, the first two episodes will be aired in select theatres on August 31st, two days before its debut on the streamer, with over 200 screenings set to take place in the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Argentina, Colombia, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will arrive on Amazon Prime on September 2nd.
