If you are of a particular age, you may remember the video game Earthworm Jim and the cartoon of the same name. Earthworm Jim is an apomorphic earthworm tasked with protecting the galaxy and discovering new lifeforms. The 1995 series had The Simpsons alumni Dan Castellaneta voicing Jim.

Perhaps you were more of a fan of the games. The first Earthworm Jim game was released on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo in 1994. The franchise became popular and 4 more games were released, with the last game launching in 1999.

According to Variety, Interplay Entertainment Corp is developing a new animated series for Earthworm Jim.  Interplay released a video giving us a first look at the series and an interview with the titular character.

The new series will bring in new characters as they navigate the galaxy, where each planet is home to a race of anthropomorphic animals. Jim’s ultimate quest is to find his true home among the stars: a near-mythical planet called Earth.

Interplay did not discuss when or where the series will premiere.
