Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time. This proved to be true as the movie did massive numbers and basically left every other movie far behind. Here are the box office results for this past weekend.
1. The Minecraft Movie delivered a massive 157 million dollars this past weekend. Despite poor reviews from critics and audiences, children and their families flocked to the theatres. This is really good for the box office, as recent movies have done very poorly. It will be interesting to see if the movie will continue to have legs in the upcoming weeks.
2. A Working Man made 7.2 million dollars. The Statham-led film has done really well for itself, already making back its budget.
3. The Chosen: Last Supper Part 2 took in 6.7 million dollars. This is a 3-week event with the final installment coming out next week. The movie has done really well for being mostly limited.
4. Snow White took in 6 million dollars this past weekend and it seems like it’s clearly time to stick a fork in it. There is just about no chance that this movie will be making its money back.
5. The Woman in the Yard rounded out the top 5 making 4.5 million dollars. There isn’t much to be said about the film other than it’s a smaller horror movie making a good profit. Another good decision by Blumhouse.
