Kraven Flops – Box Office December 13-15 2024

Moana and Wicked manage to stay strong, while it may seem that the Sony Spiderverse—the live-action ones, at least—is dead. Lord of the Rings has a new film out, but is it resonating with anyone? Here are this past weekend’s box office results.

1. Moana 2 continues to be successful at the box office making this it’s third week at number one. It took in another 26.6 million dollars and it’s still crazy to think Disney wanted to make this just a series on Disney Plus.

2. Wicked defies gravity and has taken in another 22 million dollars. Look for the smash hit to make even more money when part 2 is released.

3. Kraven the Hunter took in 11 million dollars in its opening weekend and that isn’t a good thing. This seems to be the final blow for Sony as this is the lowest opening weekend for one of their movies so far. It also doesn’t help that it cost over 100 million dollars to make. The movie has received poor reviews from critics and audiences alike and there hasn’t been as much marketing as there probably needed to be for this one to be successful.

4. Gladiator 2 took in 7.8 million. The sequel has succeeded but seems to have lost some steam regarding award contention.

5. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim took in 4.6 million dollars, landing it in 5th place. The Lord of the Rings has a huge fandom, but it seems not many know what this is, and some were also confused by the style.

Tune in next week to see how newcomers Mufasa and Sonic 3 perform at the box office.
