Director Colin Trevorrow says Dominion is, “so different from anything I’ve ever seen before”
The hype around Jurassic World: Dominion continues to grow as fans eagerly await the release of the film in 2022. Universal recently unleashed a full 5-minute Prologue that gave fans a look at life 65 million years ago, and the reveals keep coming.
The first official image of Dominion has been released and it showcases both a main character and a brand new dinosaur.
Released exclusively via Total Film, the image sees Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing neck-deep in swampy terrain facing a troubling predicament.
Check it out below.
With closer examination, the dino featured highly resembles the Therizinosaurus, which would be a newcomer to the franchise. A very large herbivore, Therizinosaurus is known for its giant claws and long neck. Given its appetite for things more green and nourishable, the image could be leaving out some important carnivorous threats in the distance. Nonetheless, it certainly gives us an exciting look at the film.
Director Colin Trevorrow didn’t provide any context for the image but did reveal it was difficult finding reference points for the film.
“This is a rare film where it is so different from anything that I’ve ever seen before, I didn’t know what to watch as inspiration. Honestly, we watched a lot of nature documentaries. I watched a lot of Planet Earth. The movie does rely on the animals acting and reacting in ways that feel natural.”
He also spoke about how the legacy characters will crossover with Howard and Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady.
“Laura, Sam, and Jeff have as much screentime in the film as Bryce and Chris do. They’re not together the entire time, but we are following both of their stories equally, and you have a sense that they’re going to collide at a certain point… there’s this tension. It’s not structured necessarily in a way that we’re used to seeing our Hollywood movies structured. But it works.”
Jurassic World: Dominion is set to release on June 10th, 2022.
