This week we’re shining our spotlight on East Coast cosplayer Willow, AKA Radios.not.dead (they/them)!

How long have you been a cosplayer?
Over 25 years!

What got you into cosplay?
The mid-90s Star Wars re-release.

Do you make, buy, or is it a combination?
Though there are some things I buy, I rarely use them in original condition. Most of my cosplays are either made or altered by me. I do a lot of work with fabrics, dyes, paints, and foam.

First cosplay?
Princess Leia [from Star Wars].

Latest cosplay?
I’m currently doing 4 different versions of Alastor from Hazbin Hotel.

Favorite thing about being a cosplayer?
The community! Hands down! I’ve met some of my best friends, and the kindest, most supportive folks while doing this!

Least favorite thing?
It might sound a bit silly, but, the shoes! Sometimes I’m in 6+ inch heels and that takes a toll after a 3-day convention.

What do you do for work outside of cosplay?
I breed spiders! Specializing in jumping spiders.

What are your top 3 fandoms?
1. Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss
2. My Hero Academia
3. My Little Pony

What cosplay are you planning next?
I have a few things in the works, but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out!

What’s one piece of advice for new cosplayers?
Go for the characters you love and outfits that make you feel happy and comfortable, all the little details will follow when you bring your passion into it! Most importantly, have fun!

Where can people find you on social media?
Radios.not.dead on Instagram and Facebook. I’m working on a TikTok, I promise!
