Lore Olympus Animated Series Coming to Prime Video

Hit WEBTOON webcomic Lore Olympus has been ordered as an animated adult series by Prime Video, bringing the insanely popular story by Rachel Smythe to the screen. Coming from WEBTOON Productions and The Jim Henson Company, the series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The romance story by Smythe premiered on WEBTOON in 2018 and completed in 2024. Its stylistic art and story-building retells the tale of Persephone, a legendary story from Greek mythology. The hit webcomic has garnered 1.8 billion views and was the first title to win an Eisner, Harvey, and Ringo award for Best Webcomic/Digital Book in the same year. Lore Olympus has also been adapted into a graphic novel format, available in most large book and graphic novel retailers.

Julia Cooperman serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. David Madden and Sydney Bright of WEBTOON Productions, along with Aron Levitz, are executive producers. For The Jim Henson Company, Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford serve as executive producers. Henson’s Delaney Shiokari serves as executive in charge of the production.

The WEBTOON summary is as follows:

“Witness what the gods do…after dark. The friendships and the lies, the gossip and the wild parties, and of course, forbidden love. Because it turns out, the gods aren’t so different from us after all, especially when it comes to their problems. Stylish and immersive, this is one of mythology’s greatest stories — The Taking of Persephone — as it’s never been told before.”
