While football fanatics all across the United States are celebrating (or despairing over) the victory of the Eagles, movie lovers are gearing up for the Super Bowl of the cinema world: the Oscars.
The 97th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 2nd. Every year only 10 films are nominated for the esteemed Best Picture award, and this year that honor goes to Jon M. Chu’s Wicked, Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, Edward Berger’s Conclave, Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez, Sean Baker’s Anora, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, RaMell Ross’s Nickel Boys, James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown, Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, and Walter Salles’s I’m Still Here. Interestingly, both Wicked and Emilia Pérez are musicals, and both Dune: Part Two and A Complete Unknown star Timothée Chalomet as their leading man. It’s also important to note that The Substance is only the 7th horror movie in the entire history of the Academy Awards to be nominated for Best Picture.

From February 21st up through the night of the Oscars, all 10 Best Picture nominees will be returning to Regal Cinemas via their annual Best Picture Film Festival.
