This past weekend, we saw the premiere of Fantastic 4. A movie that is very important for Marvel moving forward. How did it do? Jurassic World continues to make money, and Smurfs continue to be a disappointment. Here are your weekend box office results.
1. Fantastic Four: First Steps landed in first place at the box office. The movie made 118 million dollars and has received some of the best reviews Marvel has seen in a while. Good reviews are a win, but it would be great if the movie could continue to do well in the upcoming weeks.

2. Superman made another 24.8 million dollars. The movie has now made over 500 million dollars worldwide. For a name as big as Superman, you might expect the movie to have made even more. Internationally, Superman isn’t a huge draw to many. The excitement for what comes next is the win here, regardless.

3. Jurassic World: Rebirth took in another 13 million dollars. The movie is now at over 700 million dollars worldwide. The next thing is to see if it reaches a billion. The only other movie to reach a billion this year is Lilo & Stitch.

4. F1 made 6.2 million dollars this past weekend. This is easily Apple’s biggest movie hit to date, pulling in over 500 million worldwide. People seem to love these old-school ways of making movies, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a lot more movies like this in the future.

5. Smurfs made 5.4 million dollars, landing it in 5th place. The good news is that this movie made its budget back. The bad news is that this movie doesn’t seem like it will make a profit and is one of the worst-reviewed movies of the entire year.

Join us next week to see how the box office turns out.
