Here Are The Upcoming Anime We’re Most Excited About in 2023

We are nearly halfway through the first week of 2023, which means the anime scheduled for release in this year’s winter broadcasting season will begin airing soon. Lots of us here at Fandom Spotlite are anime lovers, so you can bet we’ll be tuning in to lots of new shows this year!  There are many interesting new titles and additional seasons of ongoing anime coming out in 2023, but here are some of the ones we’re looking forward to the most.

Yali – Bleach 1000 Year Blood Part 2

“If you had asked me two months ago I would have said Demon Slayer…but Bleach has proven once again why it has earned its spot in the big 3. Ichigo knows the full truth of his heritage and the complex relationship with the enemy. The stakes are higher and I can’t wait to see it all play out! The animation, the music, the story, everything has been so top-notch! July can not get here quickly enough.”

Joe – Trigun Stampede

“In the long tradition of some of my favorite anime getting a reboot/reimagining (Fullmetal Alchemist, Sailor Moon, Guyver), Trigun joins the list! Trigun Stampede is a new series starting early January featuring brand new animation, a new take on the story, and hopefully some great Vash hijinks. For those that haven’t seen the original, it’s a story about people surviving on a desert planet in the far future, and our protagonist is a walking natural disaster, with a 60-billion double-dollar bounty on his head. Unravel the mystery of our hero and the circumstances that put him on the path he’s on!”

Gabby – Buddy Daddies

“A lot of anime that I love (Bungou Stray Dogs, Tokyo Revengers, Dr. Stone, The Ancient Magus Bride, Demon Slayer…) are getting new seasons this year, but I’m most excited about this new project. Buddy Daddies is about two assassins teaming up to take care of the young daughter of a mob boss. The two main characters fit my favorite dynamic: sunshiney and brooding. It seems like the show is going to be a mixture of The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting, SPY X FAMILY, and The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited, but since there’s no original source material, we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Rachel – Aggretsuko Season 5

“This show is humorous and filled with many events which usually take place within an office space. It accurately portrays workplace stereotypes/situations which makes it so relatable to a wide audience. I loved watching Retsuko take on obstacles and express her frustrations through metal karaoke. Each season just keeps getting better while also keeping the relatability aspects for the show’s audience. I love seeing Retsuko grow and evolve throughout her journey.”

April V – SPY x FAMILY Season 2

“SPY x FAMILY should not be so damn good. The anime and manga are both nearly perfect! The first season hit the world in the feels, including my bitter ass. Anya is too adorable and must be protected at all costs! Yor and Loid have so much chemistry, we need them to make the next step in their ‘fake’ relationship. Also, Yuri is a goof and I love him!”
