I was terribly disappointed when I learned that Fathom Events would not be running their Fright Fest series this year. Fortunately, it appears there is going to be a worthy substitute: A24’s Eerie Series.
Every Tuesday in October, select Regal Cinemas theaters will be playing a different thriller, fantasy, or horror movie from renowned film company A24. The series begins on October 1st with Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), followed weekly by David Lowery’s A Ghost Story (2017), Trey Edward Shults’s It Comes At Night (2017), and Kristoffer Borgli’s Dream Scenario (2023), ending with Ari Aster’s Hereditary (2018) on October 29th. The latter is often hailed as one of the greatest horror masterpieces of the century, making it a suitable conclusion to this series.
