Singer Sayuri Dead at 28

Japanese singer-songwriter Sayuri passed on September 20, 2024 at just 28 years old. Her husband publicly announced her passing via Sayuri’s X account one week later. In his post, he writes*,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has always supported Sayuri.
Sayuri passed away on September 20.
She was 28 years old.
The funeral ceremony was held only by relatives and related persons in accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Sayuri for her kindness and prayers for her repose.
We sincerely ask the media to refrain from interviewing people involved in the tragedy, taking into consideration the deep sadness of their families and relatives.
In addition, since Sayuri was active as a freelance artist during her lifetime, we have received fan letters and other addresses at the office of the live production company.

Sayuri had been suffering from a voice disorder called functional dysphonia for at least two months, but it is unclear whether or not this condition was related to her death.

Sayuri is best known for her repertoire of anime songs, including the ending themes of Erased (“Sore wa Chiisana Hikari no Youna”), Lycoris Recoil (“Hana no Tō”), Fate/Extra Last Encore (“Tsuki to Hanataba”), and the fourth season of My Hero Academia (“Koukai no Uta”), among many others. She has released two studio albums: Mikazuki no Koukai in 2017 and Sanketsu Shōjo in 2022. She married fellow musician amaarashi just six months before her death.

We at Fandom Spotlite would like to express our condolences to her friends, family, and fans.
