Twisted Wonderland Anime Coming in 2025

Fans of Disney Twisted-Wonderland are ecstatic over the news that the anime adaptation of the mobile game finally has an approximate release date: October 2025. The anime was first announced back in October 2021, but there was a disappointing lack of updates in the four years since so fans were beginning to worry that the project was canceled. Fortunately, the official Disney+ Japan X account alleviated those fears with a tweet after the announcement was made at The Walt Disney Company’s 2024 content showcase event in Singapore.

While I say this is an adaptation of the mobile game, it is more accurate to say that the anime will be adapted from the manga that is based on the game. The game currently has seven “books” that each focus on a different dorm based on a villain from a Disney movie. Although Book 7 is still ongoing in both the Japanese and English servers, the manga covers even less content: so far, only the first three books have seen their stories adapted into manga form. Book of Heartslabyul (the dorm inspired by The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland) has four volumes, while the second volumes of both Book of Savanaclaw (Scar from The Lion King) and Book of Octavinelle (Ursula from The Little Mermaid) were only just recently released this past summer. The remaining four dorms—Scarabia (Jafar from Aladdin), Pomefiore (The Evil Queen from Snow White), Ignihyde (Hades from Hercules), and Diasomnia (Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty)—do not yet have manga dedicated to them; however, with the franchise’s global popularity, it is likely that all seven books will eventually have their own manga.

The anime has been greenlit for three seasons so far, though more seasons are possible as the manga expands. Season 1, called “Episode of Heartslabyul,” will be available for streaming on Disney+ in October 25. A specific date has not yet been confirmed.
