Netflix Releases ‘Wednesday’ Title Sequence (Watch Here)

Netflix’s upcoming Addams Family reboot series, Wednesday, is edging closer to its release date, and the streamer has now given us a look at the chilling opening title sequence – which you can check out below.

The series comes to us from the mind of Tim Burton and will star Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, alongside Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones who take on the roles of Gomez and Morticia.

Described as a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery,” the series will Wednesday as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.

Previous trailers and behind-the-scenes featurettes have given us an in-depth look at the series, and Jenna Ortega herself has given us more insight into what’s to come by teasing that the titular character will face many threats – both human and supernatural:

“We follow Wednesday as she navigates her way through this new school, and new relationships, but then also she’s dealing with a serious investigation involving serial killers, murderers and monsters.”
The Scream 2022 and X star has also spoken more about her version of the character:

Wednesday is currently a teenager, and we’ve never seen her as a teenager before. Her snarky, snide remarks might not necessarily sound as charming when they’re coming from somebody who should probably know better than a 10-year-old girl. That was a balancing act. We didn’t want to make her sound like every other teenage girl, but we also didn’t want to make her too ignorant. And we’ve never seen her on screen this much. Any other time you’ve seen Wednesday, she’s been the one-liner, the end of a joke, she always hits it, and I think that’s what people really love about her. But in this show, every scene is Wednesday. There’s an opportunity to give her a bit more dimension, and she becomes a bit more of a real person, which I don’t think we’ve ever seen before.”

Wednesday also co-stars Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) as Nevermore Academy Principal Larissa Weems, Jamie McShane (The Lincoln Lawyer) as Sheriff Galpin, Percy Hynes White (The Gifted) as Xavier Thorpe, Hunter Doohan (Your Honor) as Tyler Galpin and Riki Lindhome (Duncanville) as Dr. Valerie Kinbott.

Christina Ricci will also appear in the series, playing the role of Marilyn Thornhill. Ricci previously portrayed Wednesday herself in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993).

Wednesday hits the streamer on November 23rd.
