The fans’ wish is the band’s command: Ice Nine Kills is making a song for the upcoming third installment of the Terrifier franchise.
During a panel at their 3rd annual Silver Scream Con in Worcester, MA last weekend, frontman Spencer Charnas said to the audience, “We asked you guys a question earlier: What movie would you like us to cover? Can you guys say that on 3?” As soon as he counted down, the crowd erupted with “TERRIFIER!” in unison. Charnas then promptly announced that the band will be “doing the official song and music video for Terrifier 3.”
This announcement was made alongside Art the Clown’s actor, David Howard Thornton, who referred to the news as an “early Christmas present this year.” This phrasing is no accident, as the new movie will take place at Christmastime. Art the Clown rose to fame in the 2013 Halloween horror anthology All Hallows’ Eve, so now fans can celebrate TWO holidays with him on their screens.
Ice Nine Kills’s discography already abounds with references to horror movies, including “The Shower Scene” (based on Psycho) and “IT Is The End” (based on IT). The new song, called “A Work of Art,” continues their trend of directly referencing the movie in the title. Charnas also shared during the aforementioned panel that the song will be a collaboration with System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian. The music video will feature special effects from Academy Award winner Christopher Nelsen and be directed by Jensen Noen, who is behind an impressive repertoire of metal music videos.
Terrifier 3 premiered at the first day of Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX earlier this week, but its official theatrical release in the United States will be October 11th. The music video is scheduled to premiere the same day, although select AMC Theaters will play it after early screenings of the movie on October 10th.
