Go For A Scroll: 5 Webtoons You Should Be Reading

Living in a digitally obsessed world; we seem to have a symbiotic relationship with our phones. It’s like having access to the entire world in your hand. You may often find yourself scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and our website. We appreciate you.

But why not take your thumb on a scroll stroll and read some webcomics? Webcomics are comics you read online.  Pretty simple. One website that is popular for webcomics is Webtoons. Many Webtoons have been picked up for live-action adaptions and the trend will certainly continue. So, we wanted to share Webtoons for you to become fans of!

Sweet Home

Sweet Home takes place in South Korea, but this isn’t about K-Pop. The people start to turn into monsters and chaos breaks out! Our protagonist is a high school student dealing with serious trauma which may be the result of his own monster powers. He must fight alongside a handful of reluctant heroes to try and save the world before it’s too late. This webtoon is a horror-thriller with well-placed moments of comedy and heart. If you don’t have time to read this comic, it’s been made into a Netflix series.

Suitor Armor

If you are a lover of magic, fairies, and rom-coms, this one is for you! I’m personally reading this one. Suitor Armor is a play on the term “suit of armor.” Lucia is a lady in waiting with a secret: she’s a fairy. Which normally is a good thing but fairies and humans are at war. On top of hiding who she is, she finds herself connecting to a living suit of armor. This Webtoon is extremely cute and so easy to read! If Lord of the Rings or D&D is your thing, give this a read.

Lore Olympus

Lore Olympus is probably the webtoon you have seen on your timeline before. This comic follows the love story of Hades and Persephone. However, this is done in a modern, stylish way. The worlds in this tale are fully saturated with color, emotions, comedy, and intense moments. There are a few moments that could be triggering for some but they are in the story for a reason. It serves a purpose. The story never dulls and it is popular for good reason. Soon you will be able to watch Lore Olympus, as the comic will be made into an animated series.

Unholy Blood

Unholy Blood is about Hayan, who was a normal woman with a normal life. Then vampires stripped her of that life. Hayan is out for revenge and she gets help from a rising star in the local police force. He also is extremely good-looking. Unholy Blood is in that hyper-glossy manga style that is so aesthetically pleasing. Hayan is a great protagonist and her transformation throughout the series is impactful and engaging. Also…vampires! Get on this now.

Midnight Poppy Land

Midnight Poppy Land is another webtoon that often pops up as an ad on Facebook and Instagram. Do yourself a favor and click that ad. Midnight Poppy Land follows Poppyland after a breakup and a move to a new city. She finds herself in an entanglement with a mob enforcer. An extremely gorgeous mob enforcer. Midnight Poppy Land is like reading a K-Drama. The story is filled with shenanigans and hijinks, and you can’t help but smile the whole time. It is a rom-com anyone can enjoy- even those who aren’t fond of webcomics.

That completes this list of recommendations of Webtoons but there are many more you can checkout! Will you be checking any of these out? What would you recommend? Chat with us in the comments and online!
