Fandom News Roundup 9/19-9/24 2020

Hi Fandom Fans! September may be almost over but the news is never over. There is plenty to report for the week of 9/19-9/24. We got everything from cancellations, trailers, fashion, and a fandom baby.

The WandaVision Trailer

The WandaVision trailer was released on Marvel Entertainment’s official YouTube page. As you can see above things about to get wacky. The trailer also reveals that the series will be released on Disney+ in 2020, but when exactly, we don’t know. There are only 3 months left in 2020, so at least we know it’s soon.

Burn the Witch to Stream October 1

Tite Kubo’s “Burn the Witch” will stream on Crunchyroll starting October 1, 2020. Burn the Witch is about witches and wizards living in Reverse London who can see dragons. Only those powerful enough can make contact with the dragons. If Tite Kubo’s name sounds familiar, then you’re probably a Bleach fan; Kubo is the creator of the hit manga.

Groot is Puerto Rican

Screenrant published an article about everyone’s favorite walking tree’s origins. In issue #3 of  Guardians of Infinity, Groot finds himself in New York City. An Abuela tells her grandson that Groot is the Ceiba, a tree holding the spirits of Puerto Rico’s Taino ancestors who died when Puerto Rico was colonized. The Taino were the natives who lived on Borinquen before Columbus came. Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month, Migente!

The Dark Crystal Goes Dark

Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the prequel series to the film Dark Crystal, was canceled after one season. The news comes after their Emmy win for best children’s program.

Toy Story x Adidas

Your feet will be able to go to infinity and beyond with Adidas’s newest collaboration with Pixar’s Toy Story. The limited-edition sneaker collection features designs based on Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Hamm, Rex, and the 3-Eyed Aliens. This collab also includes a basketball designed after the Luxo Ball from the films. Fans will be able to purchase the sneakers on October 1st on Adidas’s website.

Another Rogue One

If you think Disney & LucasFilms are going to stop milking Star Wars, crazy you are. According to Deadline, Disney is working on a spin-off series for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Toby Haynes of “Black Mirror” will be directing the first three episodes of the series. The spin-off series will follow Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor before the events of the film.

Sega Developing Game Into Live-Action Film

Video game giant Sega is developing a live-action movie adaptation of its bestselling Yakuza video game franchise with production companies 1212 Entertainment and Wild Sheep Content. Yakuza follows the story of yakuza Kazuma Kiryu and the many characters and places he comes into contact with.

Another Royal Baby is Born

Billie Lourd, daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, gave birth to a son. Lourd announced the birth of Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell on her personal instagram. Both mother and baby seem to be doing well. Congrats to Lourd and her Fiance.

Amuck! Amuck! Makeup

Colourpop Cosmetics is dropping just a bunch of Hocus Pocus makeup on September 30, 2020. No word yet at what time but it will be available on Colourpop’s official website. It’s possible the makeup collection will also be released on ShopDisney.
