Metalcore band Ice Nine Kills and horror news outlet Bloody Disgusting recently announced that they are teaming up to bring five classic horror movies back to the big screen through AMC’s Thrills & Chills series. Every Friday and Tuesday evening in October (as well as on Halloween), participating AMC Theatre locations across the United States will be screening five of the films that inspired songs on Ice Nine Kills’s albums The Silver Scream (2018) and Welcome To Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2 (2021). Each showing will be preceded by an exclusive introduction from Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas as well as the music video for the song that’s based on that respective film.
The series kicks off with Eli Roth’s Hostel (2005), the inspiration behind the song “Wurst Vacation,” on October 2nd and 6th. Next is Sean H. Cunningham’s Friday The 13th (1980)—the first film in the world-renowned franchise and the inspiration for the song “Thank God It’s Friday”—on October 9th and 13th (which is unfortunately not a Friday). The subsequent week features Mary Harron’s American Psycho (2000), whose Ice Nine Kills song “Hip To Be Scared” features Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix, on October 16th and 20th, followed by Mary Lambert’s original adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary (1989) (the inspiration for “Funeral Derangements”) on October 23rd and 27th. The series concludes with Alex Proyas’s cult classic The Crow (1994) (the inspiration for “A Grave Mistake”) on October 30th and October 31st.
