This past weekend’s box office was beyond legendary. We had a week when horror became king, a movie did something unprecedented, and Star Wars may have lost popularity. Here are your weekend box office results.
1. Backrooms took first place at the box office, making 81.4 million dollars. The movie is already a huge success despite a budget of only 10 million dollars. This success was mostly due to the movie being based on the hugely popular viral video, along with good word of mouth.

2. Obsession has done something that movies never do: It has increased its profit every week that it has been out so far. This just doesn’t happen. Movies are not supposed to keep making money after their opening weekend like this. Yet the movie took another 27.3 million dollars during its third weekend in theaters. It now has a total of 151 million dollars worldwide. It has made over 100 times its budget as the movie only cost 750 thousand to make. This is due to strong word of mouth, and it makes sense because Obsession is easily one of the best movies of the year.

3. The Mandalorian and Grogu took in just 24 million dollars in their second weekend out, dropping a huge 70 percent from last week. This is not a good sign. The movie is expected to finish well below expectations for a Star Wars movie. Something needs to change because people are just not interested in the product the way they used to be. In world would two small horror films beat a Star Wars movie at the box office? Apparently this one.

4. Michael took in another 11.8 million. The movie continues to make money and is now at about 850 million dollars worldwide. The biopic has a chance to hit a million since it has not even come out in Japan yet.

5. The Breadwinner made 7.3 million dollars in its opening weekend. The family comedy did not receive great reviews and probably will be out of the top 5 next week.

Next week we have Scary Movie 6, Masters of the Universe, and Power Ballad, so the box office will be very interesting to check out.
