Terrifier 3 Does the Unthinkable-Box Office-October 11-13 2024

This weekend was much anticipated mostly due to people wondering how Joker 2 would perform in its second weekend. The result is not what the studios wanted, that’s for sure. Meanwhile, Art the Clown surprises everyone, Pharrell has a new movie and The Wild Robot stays strong.

1. Terrifier 3 scored 18. 3 million dollars in its opening weekend. This is incredible as the movie was not released in every theatre and had a budget of only 2 million dollars. It also had to take on what people thought would be tough competition in the Joker sequel.  It’s a beautiful thing to see this small movie start as an independent streaming movie and now become a box-office success. This is great news for future filmmakers looking to break through. This is a big win for the horror community.

2. The Wild Robot stayed strong bringing in another 13.4 million dollars. This is great news for the animated feature as the word of mouth has been so strong. It wouldn’t surprise me if a sequel was greenlit especially with two more books that the movie is based on out there.

3. Joker: Folie a Deux has already become a huge bomb. This is a huge surprise to many as the first film made over a billion dollars and the sequel was said to make over 100 million dollars opening weekend. The movie hasn’t even made half of that in two weeks domestically. It took in a weak 7 million dollars and beat out Beetlejuice 2 by only 4000 dollars.  Bad word of mouth and bad reviews have contributed to this. It would not surprise me if, by next weekend, the sequel isn’t even in the top 5 at all.

4. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took in another 7 million dollars. It seems like people really didn’t wanna see Joker, so instead they took in another viewing of the ghost with the most.

5. Piece by Piece took in 3.8 million dollars this past weekend. The movie is a biopic about the career of Pharrell told through Lego. This is the fifth Lego movie to be released in theatres and it has had some good reviews so far.

In other movie news Saturday Night which could potentially be an awards contender took in 3.4 million dollars. The Donald Trump biopic starring Sebastian Stan came in tenth place bringing in 1,5 million dollars. Tune in next week to see how the box office turns out.
