Who needs heroes when you have thieves?
Paramount and eOne’s live-action Dungeons & Dragons film has just debuted its first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con.
The trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves offers up plenty of humor, action and a plethora of monsters hell bent on destruction. You can check it out below!
The film features an original story but is set in the Forgotten Realms, an iconic fantasy setting central to the Dungeons & Dragons game franchise and beyond.
A synopsis for the film reads:
A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.
Playing the ragtag group of thieves are Chris Pine (Star Trek, Wonder Woman), Michelle Rodriguez (Fast and Furious, Resident Evil), Rege-Jean Page (Bridgerton), Sophia Lillis (It, It Chapter Two) and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom). Pine takes on the role of a Bard who teams with Michelle Rodriguez’s Barbarian warrior. Sophia Lillis plays a mystical druid, Justice Smith plays a young sorcerer and Rege-Jean Page is a dashing paladin.
Hugh Grant also stars.
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the duo behind 2018’s Game Night, wrote and directed the film.
The iconic tabletop RPG was originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson and was first published in 1974. Numerous novels, video games and films have since taken place in the Forgotten Realms.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves hits theatres on March 3rd, 2023.
