Hear the horror stories from cosplayers who were victims of harassment at cons. From lewd remarks to actual assault, these stories will tell you why cosplay is not consent.
We asked 10 cosplayers to share their stories from various conventions of incidents of harassment. It doesn’t matter the gender or age of these cosplayers, they were all victimized in some way. Captain Kyle and Maeden of Maeden Cosplay share thoughts on this continuing problem at cons. While steps have been taken, you need to consider the effects you have on others if you are going to San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), New York Comic Con (NYCC), Wizard World, DragonCon or even smaller, local conventions.
If you have been a victim of harassment or assault, you can reach out to these organizations that might be able to offer support.
