Beetlejuice Upsets Transformers – Box Office September 20-22 2024

This was an interesting weekend for movies. It is rare when most of the newly released films all get pretty good reviews. This is a movie lovers dream. So many options. This past weekend, Beetlejuice stayed on top, Transformers was talked about everywhere, and Halle Berry gave us a suspenseful thriller. Here are the box office results for this past weekend.

1. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took the number one spot for its third week in a role just narrowly beating Transformers One. The ghost with the most took in another 26 million dollars domestically. The movie has been a huge hit and even though Tim Burton has stated he won’t do a third film, with the amount of money the sequel is making, it would be shocking.

2. Transformers One in its first weekend took the number 2 spot bringing in 25 million dollars. This is a bit disappointing as it is on the lower side of the amount the movie was projected to make. It could be due to audiences being tired of previous lackluster Transformers films. With good word of mouth and many saying this is the best Transformers movie of all time, it will be interesting to see how well the movie does in its second week when it has to compete with The Wild Robot.

3. Speak No Evil took in another 5.9 million dollars. Critics have liked the remake and it has been a box office success for Blumhouse who are known for making a profit due to low budgets.

4. Never Let Go is the new horror/thriller directed by Alexandre Aja, who had previously directed the remake of The Hills Have Eyes and Crawl remake. It made 4.5 million dollars with a 20 million dollar budget.

5. Deadpool & Wolverine has been in the top 5 for weeks now and it took in another 3.9 million dollars. It is now 21st place all time out of all the movies ever made. It will be interesting to see if it can stay in the top five next weekend with some anticipated new releases coming up.

In other news, the new horror film, The Substance starring Demi Moore was released to high acclaim. It came in 6th place making 3.1 million dollars. In the horror community, many have called The Substance one of the best horror films of the year. This is great news for original creative films. It will be interesting to see how things turn out with the release of The Wild Robot next week. A movie that some think could end up being the best-animated film of the year. Come back next week to see more box office results.
