Actor Julian Sands, known for roles in A Room with a View and Warlock, has been confirmed dead.
The star was reported missing on January 13th of this year after failing to return after a hike in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles. Search and rescue crews have searched on foot and by helicopter with the help of Sands’ family on and off for the past 5 months. The search was on and off due to worsening weather conditions.
On January 25th, Julian’s brother Nick Sands was interviewed by the BBC and said:
“I have come to terms with the fact he’s gone and for me that’s how I’ve dealt with it.”
On June 24th, hikers found human remains in the area where Sands had gone missing. On June 27th, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed these remains to be those of the English actor.
“The identification process for the body located on Mt. Baldy on June 24, 2023, has been completed and was positively identified as 65-year-old Julian Sands of North Hollywood,”
The cause of death is still undergoing investigation.
Julian got his first big break in the 1984 comedy Oxford Blues and has since been in over one hundred different projects. Genre fans will recognise him from his work in Stargate SG-1, Smallville, and Gotham.
