This weekend at the box office, we saw the premiere of Thunderbolts*. How did the new Marvel movie do? Also, Sinners and Minecraft continue to do very well. Here are your weekend box office results.
1. Thunderbolts* took the top spot this weekend, bringing in around 76 million dollars domestically. This is the number that was predicted, even though Marvel most likely wanted the number to be higher. Many are saying that this is the best Marvel movie in years, so I expect good word of mouth to keep this movie in the top 5. There also isn’t much competition in the next couple of weeks.
2. Sinners took in another 33 million dollars. The movie has not dropped off much at all. It has now surpassed 200 million dollars worldwide.
3. A Minecraft Movie made 13.7 million dollars and continues to be an amazing surprise at the box office. The movie is now at almost 900 million dollars worldwide.
4. The Accountant 2 made 9.4 million dollars this weekend, and overall, the sequel has had a decent two weeks. The trouble is that the movie has a budget of about 80 million dollars.
5. Until Dawn took in 3.8 million dollars, and the movie has doubled its budget so far, even with mixed reviews. However, do not expect this one to continue being in the top five.
