Can’t Stop the Serenity Philadelphia 2017 – Event Report

Fans of the science fiction series Firefly and it’s followup movie Serenity came together for a charity event on June 24th to celebrate their fandom!

The event, called Can’t Stop the Serenity, is one of many such gatherings that occur each year in different regions in the country. This particular event had a Quizzo style trivia contest with prizes, raffles, a musical performance by Sean Faust (which included songs from Firefly) and a screening of the 2005 movie Serenity.

Here are some pictures from the event:

Since the event was not held in the Philadelphia area last year, the attendance this year was not as high as it could have been, but the dedicated fans who did attend raised almost $800 for Equality Now.

Equality Now is a organizations dedicated to creating a more just world where women and girls have the same rights as men and boys. Their international network of lawyers, activists, and supporters hold governments responsible for ending female genital mutilation (FGM), legal inequality, sexual trafficking and sexual violence. The staff and attendees of this event would like to thank the Rotunda in Philadelphia for hosting it. A great venue for many types of events. Visit them at http://www.therotunda.org/
