Awesome Con and Anime Frontier Announce Postponement

The COVID pandemic has fundamentally changed our daily lives due to its serious and dangerous nature. As a precaution, large public gatherings have been postponed and canceled. For us fandom fans, that means conventions are not safe.

LeftField Media, organizer of Awesome Con, Anime NYC, Rose City Comic Con, and Anime Frontier, announced that due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, two of its shows will be posted in 2021. Awesome Con and Anime Frontier, both originally scheduled for May 14-16, 2021, are postponed to August 20-21, and December 14-16, 2021, respectively.

“As a result of both government guidelines and public health directives we will continue putting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our team, customers, partners, family, and friends above all other priorities,” said LeftField Media President, Kelly Comboni. “Although our celebration will be delayed by another several months, we look forward to providing safe and healthy events next fall and continue to focus on bringing together our fans and community through digital offerings in the meantime.”

All attendees who purchased tickets to Awesome Con and Anime Frontier will have the option to roll their tickets over to the postponed 2021 dates or receive refunds. Likewise, all exhibitors will have the option to move their booths to the postponed 2021 dates or be refunded. Attendees and exhibitors should all look for email communications in the next 72 hours with additional details.

While Awesome Con and Anime Frontier won’t physically take place in the coming months, the team behind LeftField Media is continually presenting alternative and online programming. Last month, Awesome Con hosted Epic Quest powered by Wacom, a 3-day virtual scavenger hunt as part of LeftField Online, the digital content brand for all digital content produced and shared by LeftField Media shows. Awesome Con also announced this month the annual Awesome Con Short Film Festival will be presented virtually across a full week, December 9-13, 2020. More information about digital offerings from Awesome Con can be found here. Anime NYC, the sister show to Anime Frontier, will have exciting announcements this week around plans to celebrate the anime industry and anime fandom while physically remote.

Announcements about 2021 tickets, guests, and other details will begin to be announced later this year, and fans wanting to learn more can subscribe to the Awesome Con and Anime Frontier newsletter and follow the events on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
