Warriors Into the Wild Deluxe Edition

The Erin Hunter books Instagram, coupled with the official Warriors Instagram, has finally revealed the Deluxe Edition of Into the Wild, the book that started it all in 2003. This is the first special edition Warriors book after over twenty-two years of the series being in production.

Despite expecting this edition to be expensive, I was pleased to see its price set as $24.99, which is only a little over what the normal books cost anyway.

All the information is included in the promotional post and image from Instagram:

But hurry, clanmates! This special edition won’t stay in the wild for long. Once they’re gone, they’re gone fur-ever! đŸ±đŸ”„ This beauty goes on sale November 4th!

Even this sneak peek has me excited as a lifetime long Warriors fan. The sprayed edges look like the stripes of the main character (where he’s Rusty and then Firepaw in Into the Wild), while contrasting with the green, gold, and orange of the book jacket. I’m especially happy to see the under-jacket design with the gold details. It gives me more motivation to continue on my Warriors tattoo sleeve honestly, with the delicate flora and cat profiles. I am happy to see the Clan symbols included too.

Although the cover is Owen Richardson’s original Firepaw, the pre-order page on HarperCollins is crediting Dave Stevenson for illustration. He has previously worked on some of the map-art for reprinted Warriors books, so it makes sense to turn to him for this limited edition.

I couldn’t even begin to guess what the “never-before-seen” bonus chapter could be about. A training session? Something to do with Rusty as a kittypet or his previous best friend Smudge? The possibilities are intriguing.

Now, do I understand this is really just a money grab? Sure. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to buy it, especially when we don’t get these editions typically. It does make me wonder, though, will they do Deluxe Editions for all of the first arc, The Prophecies BeginInto the Wild isn’t a standalone, but the first of six. I’d buy every single one if they did.

Warriors: The Prophecies Begin #1: Into the Wild Collector’s Deluxe Limited Edition can be pre-ordered on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or other major retailers.
