An American Werewolf in London

David is backpacking through Britain with his friend when a creature attacks him. Nightmarish visions soon plague him as he begins to change.

This is easily one of the best werewolf movies of all time. The story is intriguing and this has the best transformation scene of all time. It’s also shot beautifully, scary, has great acting, and is a sad tale.

The Wolf Man

The Universal Monsters continue to be popular today with a whole land set to open this year in the new theme park “Epic Universe” A lot of people’s favorite wolfman is Lon Chaney Jr and for good reason.

The score and acting are phenomenal and the atmosphere throughout is perfect. It’s only a little over an hour and it’s never boring as it starts interesting and doesn’t let up.

The Howling

A news anchor has a traumatic experience with a serial killer and decides to visit a resort where nothing is as it seems.

The Howling is another great classic horror film. The movie helped modernize the werewolf as we know it today. The effects are top notch and these are some of the scariest werewolves put to screen. It also blends comedy with horror making it very entertaining throughout.

Ginger Snaps

Ginger is attacked on the night of her first period. Her wounds heal quickly but something isn’t right. Now it’s up to her sister to save her.

This movie doesn’t have as good special effects as other films on this list, but it makes up for it with a story, characters, and a fun time. The movie is smartly written, really funny, and a clever way to tell a coming-of-age tale.

Dog Soldiers

A group of soldiers meet up with a special ops team but discover the team has been massacred. It seems the culprits are werewolves and now the soldiers have to survive in a farmhouse till dawn.

It’s soldiers vs. werewolves, and the movie is just awesome. The film does a great job of blending action and horror, and it has some insane-looking werewolf designs. It is also really well directed by Neil Marshall who is responsible for one of the best horror films of the 2000s, The Descent.
