New Video Game ‘Dragon Ball: The Breakers’ Announced

Today, publisher Bandai Namco released a trailer announcing a new video game based on the beloved Dragon Ball franchise is coming in 2022.

While most Dragon Ball video games are known for their fighting mechanics, Dragon Ball: The Breakers will feature asymmetrical action gameplay, more likened to the popular horror game Dead by Daylight because of its asymmetrical survival gameplay.

The function of the gameplay will see seven players take the role of survivors while one player will be the Raider, tasked with killing the survivors as they attempt to break out of the Temporal Seam that they’re trapped within.

Bandai Namco released an official description of the game, saying:

“Caught in an unexpected temporal phenomenon, seven ordinary citizens find themselves stranded in a Temporal Seam: they share their imprisonment with the Raider, a menacing enemy from another timeline with an overwhelming power. Their only hope for survival is to break out from the Temporal Seam with the Super Time Machine, but the Raider is on their tracks and becomes stronger by the minute. In a race against time the cunning of Survivors clashes with the power of the Raider, to break free or be broken.”

Other details about the game have been kept under wraps for now, but Bandai Namco has revealed that they will soon release a closed beta version of the game for the PC to let fans get a little taste of the game.

The game’s producer, Ryosuke Hara, had the following to say:

“We can’t wait for people to try this completely new take on the Dragon Ball franchise! We are working hard with the team at Dimps to provide a brand new, fun, asymmetric multiplayer experience that we want to be accessible for all, while offering a strong wealth and depth of gameplay and situations.”

Dragon Ball: The Breakers will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022, and will also be playable on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
