Final Destination Breaks Records – Box Office Results May 16-18, 2025

This past weekend, we got a new Final Destination movie after 14 years, and it turns out it has been a huge hit. Also, Sinners continues to make money, and The Weeknd proves that maybe he should stick to music. Here are your weekend box office results.

1. Final Destination Bloodlines took in 51 million dollars in its opening weekend. This sets a record for best opening for the franchise and biggest opening weekend of the decade so far for a horror movie. The movie has already exceeded expectations and has made 105.7 million dollars globally against a 50 million dollar budget.

2. Thunderboltstook in 16.5 million dollars this weekend. The movie is doing well, but based on its quality, it should be doing better. There definitely seems to be some superhero fatigue involved.

3. Sinners took in 15.4 million dollars. The movie continues to not drop much at all week after week so far. It has now made over 300 million dollars worldwide.

4. A Minecraft Movie made 5.8 million dollars. With how much money this movie has made, a sequel is inevitable. The movie has now made over 900 million dollars worldwide.

5. The Accountant 2 made 4.9 million dollars this past weekend. The movie has been pretty solid, but this will likely be its last week in the top 5.

In other movie news, The Weeknd’s new movie with Jenna Ortega, Hurry Up Tomorrow, did not crack the top 5. The movie has received poor reviews and only cost 15 million to make. This is a good thing because it doesn’t seem that this one will be a success. Join us next week to see how Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning do at the box office.
