The very first thing I wrote upon joining the Fandom Spotlite team was a listicle called 12 Libra Anime Characters. Every month since, I have created a listicle for all of the remaining 11 signs of the zodiac. Now the sun has completed one whole orbit around the sun since my Fandom Spotlite debut, and Libra season is upon us again! Born between September 23 and October 22, Libras are an air sign that strive for balance and justice. However, some Libras’ scales are tipped too far in one direction and they will either be rational and insightful, or easily carried away and loudly extroverted. Here are 12 more Libra anime characters from both sides of the scale!
Yayoi Kunizuka (Psycho-Pass) – September 28
Since the symbol for Libras is the scales of justice, it’s no surprise that the first character on this list is a law enforcement officer. Yayoi is a calm, level-headed individual who can maintain her composure even in the most dire situations.
Minto Aizawa (Tokyo Mew Mew) – October 3
When we first meet Minto, she appears to be little more than a snobby, spoiled rich girl. However, as the first addition to the Mew Project after their leader Ichigo, Minto is a valuable teammate. She stands on both sides of the Libra scale, being both bossy and headstrong as well as elegant and refined.
Byakuya Ishigami (Dr. Stone) – October 8
Returning to Earth after being in space for his job as an astronaut only to find that every living thing on the planet has been turned to stone must have been incredibly stressful and shocking, to say the least. But Byakuya did not give in to despair. Instead, he planted the necessary seeds to help rebuild humanity, having faith that one day his adopted son would reanimate and pick up where he left off. Byakuya may be goofy and fun-loving, but he is also a reliable leader and father.
Rize Kamishiro (Tokyo Ghoul) – October 8
There are a lot of ways a first date can go wrong, but most of the time, it won’t end in your date cannibalizing you… unless your date is Rize Kamishiro, in which case that is unfortunately the most likely outcome. Libras love to have fun, and Rize entertains herself by devouring unsuspecting men. Everyone has their hobbies, right? Besides, murder isn’t her only hobby: she also likes to read.
Reigen Arataka (Mob Psycho 100) – October 10
It’s ironic that a man who makes a living off of conning people would fall under the zodiac sign that represents justice; nevertheless, Reigen encapsulates a lot of other key Libra traits. He rarely loses his cool (even if it’s just an act and he doesn’t actually know what he’s doing) and is very charismatic. He also doesn’t like to see people suffer. After all, even though he’s lying about his ability to exorcise malevolent spirits, his fake cleansings bring his clients peace of mind.
Sonia Nevermind (Danganronpa) – October 13
Holding the title of Ultimate Princess means that Sonia is extremely refined, worldly, and diplomatic. She possesses that undeniable Libra charm, and although she can be a bit naïve and perhaps too enthusiastic, her classmates can’t help but trust her—which comes in handy when they start killing each other.
Rindo Kobayashi (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma) – October 15
Air signs are often carefree, and Rindo is an example of this. Despite being a member of the Elite Ten at the prestigious Totsuki Culinary Academy, she doesn’t take anything too seriously and does as she pleases.
Robert Speedwagon (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) – October 16
Although Speedwagon has a history of crime, his entire life is actually motivated by his sense of justice. He believes so strongly in his friend Jonathan’s goal of defeating the evil Dio that he establishes a foundation that exists solely to aid the Joestar family for generations to come. Now that’s what I call a good friend!
Eijiro Kirishima (My Hero Academia) – October 16
Kirishima decides how he feels about people based on whether or not he views them as manly. This may sound superficial, but his definition of “manly” is far from toxic masculinity: to Kirishima, manliness means having a noble, courageous heart and putting others before yourself. He’s not afraid to shed tears or show emotion, and always strives to be the best version of himself.
Kenma Kozume (Haikyuu!!) – October 16
What some people call lazy, others may see as efficient. Kenma might seem apathetic about everything besides video games, but in reality, he excels as a volleyball player because he plays to his mental strengths rather than trying to develop the physical prowess that he lacks. Although people often mistake Kenma’s cool composure for aloofness or even animosity, he does care about his friends and teammates; he just doesn’t see the need to get worked up over things.
Eli Ayase (Love Live! School Idol Project) – October 21
As Student Council President, Eli serves as a role model to her fellow students. Although she may seem strict at times, this is only because she wants what’s best for her school. She is one of the more mature members of μ’s, but the more time she spends with the other girls, the more she learns to also have fun.
Minako Aino (Sailor Moon) – October 22
Minako just barely makes it as a Libra, as she was born on the final day of the sign’s season. Still, she earns her place under this sign as an evil-fighting Sailor Guardian. She is so serious about protecting Earth from the Dark Kingdom, in fact, that she posed as a Sailor Guardian before she even received her real power! She may be an idol-obsessed airhead, but she has a good heart and fights hard to fulfill her duties.
