The box office this past weekend was a shock as the sequel to Joker really disappointed. The Wild Robot and Beetlejuice continues to do well and a film that was supposed to come out two years ago was finally released. Here are the box office results from this past weekend.
1. Joker: Folie a Deux took the number one slot this past weekend making 40 million dollars. Even though it took first place, this is disappointing for everyone involved. The first film made two and a half times as much as this one in its opening weekend. Early predictions projected that this movie would exceed that and make over 100 million dollars on its opening weekend easily. The low box office could be due to people not wanting a sequel to this movie as well as not wanting it to be a musical. It doesn’t seem that this one will catch fire as the critics and audience have torn it apart. Time will tell but so far this is not a good start.
2. The Wild Robot took in another 18 million dollars. The movie continues to do well giving it more chance to take home Oscar gold.
3. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice continues to be one of the biggest hits this year bringing in another 10.3 million dollars. Beetlejuice 3 has to come out now right?
4. Transformers One took in another 5.3 million dollars. It truly isn’t very pleasant with how well the movie has been received. There is a possibility it can catch fire once it hits streaming.
5. Speak No Evil took in another 2.8 million dollars. The remake has done pretty well for Blumhouse but might fall out of the top five next week.
In other news, White Bird was finally released. a prequel and sequel to Wonder. The movie was delayed several times with the original release date being September 16, 2022. It made 1.5 million dollars despite decent reviews. Come back next week to see the outcome at the box office.
